Privacy Policy

Last updated June 7, 2026

motiler makes animated maps for motion designers working in Cavalry. This policy explains what we collect when you use motiler.com and the motiler plugin, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep the data we hold to the minimum the product needs to work.

Who we are

In this policy, “motiler”, “we”, and “us” refer to the operator of the motiler product and the motiler.com website. If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at [email protected].

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run accounts and the tile service:

  • Your email address. Sign-in is passwordless — we use your email to send a six-digit code and to identify your account. We never ask for or store a password.
  • Sign-in codes and session tokens. We store a hashed, short-lived form of each sign-in code (it expires within minutes) and the session tokens that keep you signed in. Tokens are stored as hashes on our side.
  • Usage data. We count the map tiles your account renders so we can show your remaining allowance and bill subscriptions accurately.
  • Technical request data. Like most sites, our infrastructure provider records request metadata such as IP address and timestamps for security, rate-limiting, and abuse prevention.
  • Payment information. When paid plans launch, payments are processed by Stripe. Card details go directly to Stripe — we never see or store your full card number.

How we use your information

  • Authenticate you and keep you signed in across the website and plugin.
  • Operate the tile service and place imagery in your Cavalry projects.
  • Meter usage so you can see your allowance and so subscriptions bill correctly.
  • Send transactional email — sign-in codes and, later, receipts and account notices.
  • Provide support when you contact us.
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Email we send you

We send transactional email through Cloudflare Email Service — today that means your six-digit sign-in code, and in future, payment receipts and important account notices. We will not add you to marketing email without your consent, and any future marketing email will include an unsubscribe link.

Cookies and local storage

To keep you signed in, the website stores your session tokens in your browser’s local storage. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Clearing your browser storage or signing out removes these tokens.

Service providers we rely on

We share data with a small set of processors strictly to run the service:

  • Cloudflare — hosting, storage, email delivery, and security for the website, accounts, and tile backend.
  • Stripe — payment processing for paid plans (when available).

These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of motiler and its users.

How long we keep data

  • Sign-in codes: deleted as soon as they are used, or within minutes when they expire.
  • Session tokens: access tokens expire within about 30 minutes; sign-out revokes the longer-lived refresh token.
  • Account and usage records: kept while your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, tax, and accounting needs.

Your rights and choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or the laws of certain US states), you may have additional rights. To make a request, email [email protected]. Deleting your account removes your email and account records; some information may be retained where the law requires it.

Security

All traffic to motiler is encrypted in transit over HTTPS. Sign-in codes and session tokens are stored only as hashes, never in plain text, and codes are single-use and short-lived. No system is perfectly secure, but we design the product to hold as little sensitive data as possible and to expire what it does hold quickly.

International users

motiler runs on Cloudflare’s global network, so your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

Children

motiler is a professional tool and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continued use of motiler after a change means you accept the updated policy.
