Terms of Service

By accessing motiler.com or using the motiler plugin, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are using motiler on behalf of a studio or company, you confirm you have authority to accept these terms for that organization. If you do not agree, do not use motiler.

motiler is a tool for making animated maps. The Cavalry plugin draws country and area borders and photographic basemap imagery into your composition and lets you animate the camera as a real layer. The imagery is served from our own tile backend, built on open data and hosted on our infrastructure.

Sign-in is passwordless: you create and access your account with a six-digit code we email you. You are responsible for keeping access to your email inbox secure, since anyone who can receive your code can sign in. You agree to provide an email address you control and to keep your account information accurate. Accounts are for a single user; do not share your account or codes with others.

Subject to these terms and any active subscription, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the motiler plugin and to request tiles from our service for your design work. This license lasts while your account and plan are in good standing.

The basemap imagery motiler serves is built on open data, and you have full rights to export and use the maps you create with motiler in your own projects — client work, films, broadcasts, and commercial releases included. You do not owe motiler any additional license or attribution for the finished animations you render.

When using motiler, you agree not to:

• Resell, redistribute, or rebroadcast our raw tiles or imagery as a standalone dataset or competing tile service.
• Use automated means to bulk-download or scrape tiles beyond ordinary use of the plugin.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the protected source of the plugin or backend.
• Share your account credentials or circumvent account, license, or usage limits.
• Use motiler to break the law or infringe anyone else's rights.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service or these terms.

motiler is offered on a subscription basis. A plan grants a recurring allowance of map tiles that refills each billing cycle. When paid plans are available, billing is handled by Stripe; by subscribing you authorize recurring charges until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and your plan remains active through the end of the current paid period. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. We will give reasonable notice of any change to plan pricing.

motiler, including the plugin software, the tile backend, the website, and the motiler name and branding, is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms grant you a license to use motiler, not ownership of it. The underlying basemap data comes from open sources and remains subject to those sources’ terms.

motiler is provided “as is” and “as available.” The product is under active development, and features may change. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that imagery will be available for every location at every zoom. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, motiler will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to motiler will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

You may stop using motiler and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or to protect the service and its users. On termination, your license to use motiler ends; sections that by their nature should survive — such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will remain in effect.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in Maryland will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or your use of motiler.

We may update these terms as motiler grows. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use motiler after a change means you accept the updated terms.
